BOGALUSA n If the popularity of both fact-based and dramatic television shows on crime scene investigations is any indication, 0some students in the Bogalusa City School system are about to get an opportunity that many people, children and adults alike, would eagerly welcome. And interested students better sign up fast, because enrollment will be limited to the first 20 to register in one or possibly two sessions.
The Bogalusa Schools Title Department will offer a Summer Forensic Investigations Camp, or CSI Camp, to students entering the sixth and seventh grades.

The forensic sci-ence/technology/inquiry-based learning experience will include the investigation of fingerprints, fiber types, hair types, DNA and more. Just like the folks they see on TV and the real-life investigators they depict, participants will use Luminol, blue/black lights, Global Positioning Systems, electronic microscopes, digital cameras, document cameras, computers, fingerprinting kits and crime scene investigation kits to solve in-depth crime scenarios.
And Culpepper is scheduled to demonstrate fingerprinting techniques and to award certificates to students who successfully lift and identify latent fingerprints.
Participating students will learn how to use several forms of technology and they'll get the chance to enhance their math graphing, science inquiry and social studies skills. The camp is designed to be both educational and intriguing.
The CSI Camp will run June 13 through June 16 and from 9 a.m. through noon daily. And if enough interest is shown, an additional camp could be offered the following week.
The camp is free of charge. And breakfast and lunch will be provided for all students.
Participants will be responsible for their own transportation to and from the Bogalusa City School Board Office, 1705 Sullivan Dr. And the students must wear their school uniforms.
