MT. HERMON - The Mount Herman School Senior 4H Club has chosen as one of its community service projects this year to address a problem faced in their community by the emergency response personnel of the Washington Parish Fire District 9 and the ambulance services in the area.

The problem is many residents don't have their addresses clearly marked or are not marked at all.

In the event of an emergency, the fire department and the ambulance service are often delayed in arriving due to the lack of adequate posting of addresses.

A minute's delay may not sound like much but it can make a major difference when responding to an emergency.

Therefore, the MHS Senior 4H in conjunction with the Washington Parish Fire District 9 members are urging all residents to clearly post their addresses. In an attempt to assist residents, the 4H club and District 9 volunteers are selling address signs. They are blue with white numbers. They are reflective and are visible at night. The cost is $15 and the signs can be mounted vertically or horizontally. If you are interested in purchasing a sign, contact Mt. Hermon School 4H leader and District 9 member Barbara Kerbow at 877-5813 or 877-4627 or any MHS Senior 4H member or District 9 volunteer. If you need assistance or you know of someone who needs assistance in posting an address, contact one of the volunteers.

The 4H club and District 9 officials stress the importance of this problem and urge all residents to post their addresses as soon as possible. By posting one's address, you may not only help yourself in the event of an emergency but you may also help your neighbor.
