Troopers screened 181 vehicles and made five DWI arrests, said Trooper Louis Calato.

Ten troopers, along with two deputies from the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office, worked the checkpoint, and a mobile command post from Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries was also used in the operation.

The checkpoint ran 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Saturday.

State police will continue to conduct DWI checkpoints and work to keep impaired drivers off the roadways, Calato added.
