The Daily News

On Friday, July 4, when Bogalusa celebrates its birthday as well as that of the United States, persons will be asked to ring bells to acknowledge the liberties and freedoms we have.

And if you don't have a bell, the Magic City Post 24 American Legion Auxiliary has four-inch tall bells, inscibed with "Let Freedom Ring" available for sale.

Proceeds from the project go to help the auxiliary fund another project - supporting American troops in Iraq. The group has adopted a company and has asked what they need the most and then gets it and puts together "care packages" to send to our men and women far away from home.

The bells are available for $5 each and may be purchased from any Post 24 member or Auxiliary member, through the post or in the newsroom of this newspaper ... and it is a worthy cause.

So, when you ring one of the "special" bells on July 4, you'll be acknowledging a couple of things - the birthdays of the United States and of Bogalusa - and you'll be helping some very good folks at Magic City Post 24 help some more very good folks, our troops.

Buy your bells and let's all let freedom ring on July 4.
