The incident occurred just before 11:30 p.m. near the front door of Club Ambience, 1315 S. Columbia St.
“When police arrived they received information that someone was injured in an altercation, but they didn’t know if he was shot or stabbed,” said Bogalusa Police Department (BPD) Capt. Joe Culpepper. “They were told he had been transported by private vehicle to the hospital.”

“He died shortly after the officers arrived, and he was never able to talk to the police,” said Culpepper. “Officers interviewed numerous people, but most of them said they didn’t know anything.”
However, the officers were able to get information that enabled them to obtain an arrest warrant for Leandes L. Lester, 22, whose last known address is Number 29 River Terrace. But when they went to pick him up, they found the suspect was not at that address.
“The officers worked through the weekend in an attempt to locate Lester,” said Culpepper. “They developed information that he is possibly hiding in a residence out of town.”
Meanwhile, Monday morning the BPD got “a couple of calls” that lead to another eyewitness who said Randall Henry, 18, whose last known address is 1842 Lasley St., held Forbes while Lester stabbed him.
Police then obtained a warrant for Henry. Both warrants are for second degree murder.
Culpepper said this is the fourth murder in Bogalusa this year.
Anyone with information on the incident or the whereabouts of the suspects is urged to call the BPD at any time at 732-BUST or 732-3611, or at 732-6238 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Callers may remain anonymous.
