We believe that an integral part of a community’s wellbeing is an attitude and arena where people who do good things - who work to improve life for others - who try to make a difference - are recognized and saluted.
Because this is a salute to members of the community of Washington Parish, we solicit your recommendations for groups or individuals to be considered for inclusion.

• VARNADO’S WILDCATS, who continue to carry the Washington Parish banner in the Louisiana High School Football Playoffs. Tonight at 7, the Wildcats play host to top-seed South Plaquemines.
• BOGALUSA’S LUMBERJACKS, FRANKLINTON’S DEMONS and BOWLING GREEN’S BUCCANEERS, on representing Washington Parish in the high school playoffs.
• THE SOLID ROCK CARPENTERS of Chicago, who have made about a dozen trips to Bogalusa to help rebuild since Hurricane Katrina, and are back in our community once again. About 50 volunteers are here now with another 200 expected to arrive in time to spend New Year’s with us.
• WASHINGTON PARISH SHERIFF ROBERT CROWE on keeping a campaign promise and opening a substation in Mount Hermon.
• BETA SIGMA PHI’S KAPPA LAMBDA CHAPTER, on collecting toys for the Bogalusa Toy Fund.
• NURSING STUDENTS at LOUISIANA TECHNICAL COLLEGE-SULLIVAN, who will soon graduate and enter the medical profession. A total of 34 students are scheduled to graduate.
